AVALIAÇÃO DE FUNÇÃO PULMONAR E FORÇA DA MUSCULATURA RESPIRATÓRIA DE PACIENTES SUBMETIDOS A RADIOTERAPIA COM CÂNCER DE TÓRAX

Resumo

A função pulmonar é dividida por parâmetros que determinam capacidades respiratórias basais, e por meio de testes simples e específicos pode-se verificar tais parâmetros como capacidade funcional e força muscular respiratória. O câncer é uma doença incapacitante e o tratamento é por vezes extenso e com inúmeras complicações, inclusive pulmonares. Este projeto de pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar através da espirometria e da manovacuometria as alterações de capacidade e força pulmonar em pacientes diagnosticados com câncer em região de tórax submetidos ao tratamento de radioterapia. Foram 15 pacientes selecionados, sendo que 4 foram excluídos por motivos técnicos e/ou estado de saúde, os 11 pacientes restantes foram avaliados de dois a três períodos diferentes (antes, durante e após finalização das sessões de radioterapia) e após analise dos resultados dos exames pode-se observar que não  foram encontrados déficits na função pulmonar e na força da musculatura respiratória estatisticamente significantes, mantendo os valores dentro do número previsto calculado individualmente para cada paciente.

EVALUATION OF PULMONARY FUNCTION AND STRENGTH OF RESPIRATORY MUSCULATURE OF PATIENTS SUBMITTED TO RADIOTHERAPY WITH THORAX CANCER

Pulmonary function is divided by parameters that determine basal respiratory capacities, and by means of simple and specific tests can verify such parameters as functional capacity and respiratory muscle strength. Cancer is a disabling disease and the treatment is sometimes extensive and with numerous complications, including pulmonary complications. This research project aimed to analyze through spirometry and manovacuometry the changes in lung capacity and strength in patients diagnosed with cancer in the chest region submitted to radiotherapy treatment. Fifteen patients were selected, four of whom were excluded due to technical reasons and / or health status. The remaining 11 patients were evaluated from two to three different periods (before, during and after the end of the radiotherapy sessions) and after analyzing the results of the it can be observed that there were no statistically significant deficits in pulmonary function and respiratory muscle strength, keeping the values within the predicted number calculated individually for each patient.
