ESTUDO DA ASSOCIAÇÃO ENTRE O POLIMORFISMO COMT VAL158MET (RS4680) E O TRANSTORNO DEPRESSIVO

Resumo

Introdução: O transtorno depressivo é uma doença cuja resposta ao tratamento e a manifestação dos sintomas variam entre os indivíduos. O polimorfismo de COMT Val158Met (rs4680) afeta a atividade enzimática de COMT, responsável pela degradação de catecolaminas. Objetivo: Analisar a influência genética do polimorfismo COMT Val158Met na fisiopatologia do transtorno depressivo. Metodologia: Foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico abrangendo artigos científicos publicados nas plataformas: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), MEDLINE (PubMed), Google Acadêmico e Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), além de outras fontes confiáveis, em que 55 publicações foram escolhidas para este estudo em português, inglês e espanhol. Resultados: Genótipos homozigotos desse polimorfismo mostram uma associação com a etiologia do transtorno depressivo e influenciam a resposta às terapias farmacológicas.

STUDY OF THE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN THE COMT VAL158MET (RS4680) POLYMORPHISM AND DEPRESSIVE DISORDER

Introduction: Depressive disorder is a condition where the response to treatment and the manifestation of symptoms vary between individuals. The COMT Val158Met (rs4680) polymorphism affects the enzymatic activity of COMT, responsible for the degradation of catecholamines. Objective: To analyze the genetic influence of the COMT Val158Met polymorphism on the pathophysiology of depressive disorder. Methodology: A literature review was conducted, covering scientific articles published on platforms such as Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), MEDLINE (PubMed), Google Scholar, Virtual Health Library (BVS), and other reliable sources. Fifty-five publications in Portuguese, English, and Spanish were selected for this study. Results: Homozygous genotypes of the COMT Val158Met polymorphism show an association with the etiology of depressive disorder and influence the response to pharmacological therapies.
